Creativity—we all have it. But it depends on how we use, interpret, and practice it. We have tons of things to do every week, and we seek for at least a day to lull on our creative juices.
Thanks to weekends, the world gives us enough time for ourselves. This article is for everyone who wants to make the most of their weekend. Here are the 8 ways that can boost and stimulate your creativity. I divided the numbers into three (3) sections to guide you on a productive weekend.
Let’s start on a Friday night. Because we all know it’s a night of preparation for the weekend.
1. Listen to music and daydream
There’s nothing more satisfying than listening to your favorite music. Music promotes more divergent thinking— which is a key to creativity. So, put on those headphones, play your favorite music, and volume it up!
2. Read
Other than new learnings, reading can also help you exercise your mind. If you’re not a fan of reading, it’s still important to spend a little time to read. Give yourself at least 30 minutes a day to read and flex your mind muscles.
“No matter how busy you may think you are, you must find time for reading, or surrender yourself to self-chosen ignorance.” ~ Confucius
So there, your mood is all set so buckle up for Saturday.
3. Create
Paint, sketch, create music, come up with a new dance step, or decorate a cake! These activities will surely help you with your piece. Creativity is your personality. It is how you interpret life, the feeling of love, the beauty of music, and the wonders of this world.
4. Get someone else’s opinion
Be proud and you’ll be surprised how people will react to your creation. Or they could ask for another craft because you’ve made them feel something relevant to them. Also, hearing others perspective will help you improve and come up with fresh ideas. Show and share it.
5. Spend time outside
Okay, I know that this is your favorite. Stroll inside a mall, ride a bike and visit the park, or go to a cozy coffee shop and have a taste of their new cheesecake. Go to a place where you haven’t been before. Something new and fresh perspective.
I know it’s exciting, you’re almost there. Keep reading.
6. Exercise (or yoga)
Your health is very important. Exercise is an important part of the routine to effectively boost creativity. Perform an exercise for at least 30 minutes, or if you’re a Zen person, do yoga. Giving a deep focus on form and breathing, it will help you melt away with those stressful thoughts. This open state of mind is much more conducive to clear, creative thoughts, and problem-solving.
7. Mingle with family and friends
Communicating with people with different perspectives can give you a broader way of thinking and can help you increase your creativity. What makes it more fun is that you’re actually brainstorming with people you know personally.
8. Stay comfy on a bed and have a good 8-hour sleep.
Of course, taking a real rest from all these activities would be great. Get some sleep, specifically an 8-hour of sleep. Because lack of sleep will affect your overall performance, and to be creative setting your mind and body is vital.
Let’s cut it short. What’s common from these tips simply says: Live a healthy life and just have fun exploring the beauty of life. Whatever you do, always remember that being creative is naturally human, unless you’re not. (*wink)
